The workshop in detail
Welcome to Camille's beautiful workshop where the art of lutherie is practised!
The session will be divided in two parts.
During the first hour, Camille will be happy to show you her workshop and her creations. She will explain all the steps of creation from the varnish techniques to the material used, the cutting techniques, the wood species used and the assembly of the pieces.
Do not hesitate to ask her questions. It is a moment of sharing knowledge and passion!
During the second hour, you will get down to business. It will be your turn to draw and cut a wooden board. Camille will guide you in the cutting according to the direction of the wood, like the "famous F".
You will leave this workshop with new knowledge about this beautiful craftsmanship, as well as with your beautiful board, to use as a coaster or for decoration.

Meet Camille
Luthier
Originally from Besançon in France, Camille is passionate about string quartet instruments. That is why she is a luthier today!
She has always wanted to create and has loved working with her hands since she was young.
She continued her education after graduating from the School Nationale de Lutherie Lycée Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume in Mirecourt, learning from artisans in France, Belgium, Canada and Mexico. Even though she did numerous restorations and learned many techniques, she always found time to "create" at home during her spare time.
Since 2022, she is happy to have her very own atelier in the city centre in Amsterdam.
Today, she combines the restoration of violins and the creation of brand-new violins, violas and cellos inspired by the old Italian and Dutch masters.
Several of her instruments are played by professional musicians around the world!

We had a great time at Camille's workshop. We signed up on a whim and had no idea where to start, but she made sure we could keep up. She also told us about her international career as a luthier and the craft of building stringed instruments. So fun to leave with a unique souvenir that you can use for decoration or as a serving board. An excellent way to spend a few hours as a tourist or local - part of the charming and historic culture of ateliers of independent craftspeople in Amsterdam.

Camille gave us a great experience during the workshop. She was very enthusiastic to tell about us all about the craft of violin making. Besides that the activity during the workshop was fun and along the way we learned a lot about the violin instrument. All the questions we had were answered and Camille was very passionate about her work. She is a friendly person that makes you feel comfortable during the workshop. Overall we had a great experience and we recommend anyone with interest in music instruments to book the workshop.

Such an incredible workshop for musicians! If you are curious to know more about violins and how they are made, Camille will tell you everything about the craftmanship. You will also be able to make a beautiful wooden piece of art with her help (everything by hand, no machines). The workshop is in the heart of Amsterdam in a magical location - Highly recommended!

It was à really really nice Workshop ! I didn't really knew what to expect as it i my first time doing à workshop but i was happilly surprised. The location is beautifull and next to Amsterdam Centraal so easily accessible ! For the workshop i carved an "f" of a violin in piece of wood, we did everything by hand and Camille explained everything on how to do it and helped me ! She also explained the life of a violin maker, daily life, violin making schools, violin making and repairing ! She answered all my questions and was really nice ! Would totally recommend this workshop !
