Ready to unleash your inner creativity and discover the craft of making earrings? Join Ching-Hui for an immersive 5-hour workshop where you'll gain new skills and knowledge while creating your own stunning pair of earrings.
Ching-Hui will introduce the depletion gilding technique to create a pure silver surface on the top layer of sterling. From there, she'll guide you to cut the foil and trace the earring form before arranging the gold foil and burnishing it over a hot plate. You'll also learn how to add texture to the silver surface and oxidise your jewellery for a black patina if desired.
Using the Keum Boo Jewellery technique, which is used in many cultures around the world, including South Korea, China, and Japan, you'll bond gold to the silver surface, creating a unique and beautiful piece of jewellery.
During the workshop, you will use file tools and work with high-quality materials such as ZILVER (925/-) PLAAT, 24K gold foil thicker sheet, 925 silver jump rings, and 925 silver ear hooks.
Best of all, you'll leave the workshop with your very own pair of stunning earrings, ready to wear or gift to a loved one.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to discover the Keum Boo Jewellery technique and create unique jewels with the guidance of an expert like Ching-Hui.
The workshop is easily accessible by public transport.

Meet Ching-Hui Y.
Jewellery Designer & Artist
Meet Ching-Hui Yang, the talented jewellery designer redefining the boundaries of her craft. With a degree in Fashion Jewellery from London College of Fashion and an MA in Material Futures from Central Saint Martins, Ching-Hui is a true expert in her field.
Ching-Hui's jewellery pieces are not only beautiful, but they also have a deeper purpose. Her focus on the relationship between body, object and the absence of an object is evident in every piece she creates. She believes that jewellery can be a powerful tool for communicating emotion between people, and is constantly experimenting with new materials and techniques to create innovative and thought-provoking pieces.
Her long-term goal of documenting and visualising emotions through her art aims to encourage a rethinking of the definition of empathy. She believes that design as a form of empathy is the visceral experience of another person's thoughts and feelings from his or her point of view. By helping people experience the emotion of creation, Ching-Hui hopes to facilitate more compassionate behaviours and encourage a more empathetic world.
Passionate, calm and careful, Ching-Hui is a true artist in every sense of the word. Her unique approach to jewellery-making and her passion for upcycling and recycling make her stand out in a crowded field. With her talent and dedication, there's no doubt that Ching-Hui Yang is a jewellery designer to watch.
