The workshop in detail

  • 1h30
  • 15 years min.
  • Up to 20 people
  • WORKSHOP DESIGNED FOR A TEAM: Participate in this workshop with your colleagues and create unique memories together.

Join Malou for an interactive and inspiring team building workshop where your group will create their very own small terrariums - beautiful, self-sustaining ecosystems to take back to the office or home.Ā

Your team will start with a brief introduction to the history and science of terrarium building and Malou will guide you through each step, from understanding how ecosystems work to learning how to care for them over the long term. This is not just about building terrariums, but also about strengthening the bonds within your team.

All materials are provided, including a glass jar with cork, large terrarium plants, pebbles, compost, charcoal, moss, special terrarium tools such as brushes and bottle brushes, and a care guide to maintain the terrarium.

This workshop encourages the adoption of sustainable practices and offers your team the opportunity to engage with nature in a meaningful and socially responsible way, making it the perfect way to reward your collaborators while challenging the team in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

If Malou provides the venue, alcoholic drinks can be served on request. Please indicate this with your request.Ā

Note: for this workshop the artisan can come to you, or the artisan can provide a space for the workshop. In both cases, an additional fee applies. Please find the fee for your preferred option in the practical information below.Ā

    Meet Studio WĆ¼st

    Floral Designer

Malou's journey through the creative landscape began at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, where she honed her skills in Fashion and Branding.

Despite the rigour of academic study, she found herself yearning for a more hands-on approach to creation, a yearning rooted in her childhood experiences. Immersed in nature from a young age by her parents, Malou developed a profound connection to the environment that would later become integral to her craft.

Her entry into the world of terrariums was as organic as the ecosystems she createsā€” a spontaneous venture about ten years ago that quickly captured the attention and hearts of those around her. What started as an individual project soon transitioned to a commercial pursuit as demand for her terrariums soared. Recognising her talent, a local plant shop not only stocked her creations but also hosted her for several years as she led workshops, sharing her expertise and passion for plant life with others.

This evolution of her craft and knowledge culminated in the inception of Studio WĆ¼st, where Malou channels her deep-seated reverence for biophilic design into every piece she creates. The studio, nestled in the vibrant city of Amsterdam, serves as a hub of innovation and creativity where Malou works with both plants and textile materials. Her dedication to her craft is evident in the functional pieces and art installations that bear her signature blend of technical skill and a heartfelt commitment to bringing the essence of the outdoors into everyday living spaces.
