Hosted by Yizon, this three-hour workshop offers a unique opportunity to delve into the world of jewellery making, with a special focus on working with silver clay and gemstone setting. The workshop is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of each step involved in creating a piece of fine jewellery from scratch.
Participants start their journey by learning the art of silver clay shaping. Silver clay, an innovative material composed of microscopic silver particles suspended in an organic binder, offers the pliability of modelling clay while being entirely made of silver. This intriguing medium allows for creativity and precision, as it can be easily moulded with fingers and simple tools to craft intricate jewellery designs.
The next step involves the delicate process of gemstone setting on clay. Participants are guided in embedding cubic zirconia into their designs, adding a touch of elegance and sparkle to their creations. This stage requires careful attention and skill, ensuring the gemstones are securely and aesthetically placed within the silver clay.
One of the most exciting parts of the workshop is torching. The unique consistency of silver clay allows for hand torching using a small butane gas torch, similar to a kitchen torch. This process fires the creations, transforming the malleable clay into hardened silver – a magical moment for any budding jeweller.
The final step is polishing, where participants bring their creations to life with a radiant shine. The workshop provides various tools for this purpose, including micromotors, polishing heads, sandpaper, a brass brush, and an agate burnisher. This is where the participants' efforts are rewarded as they see their designs evolve into polished, professional-looking pieces of jewellery.

I had a great experience with Yizon! His workshop is very well organized, in a nice location. He explains everything well, shows how to do things, is very attentive to details so that we have the nicest ring possible at the end. I really enjoyed making the ring under his supervision, and I recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to create a silver ring with stones!
