Initiate your team to the Japanese art of Kintsugi with Yuki

TEAM WORKSHOP: Take part in this workshop with your colleagues and create unique memories together.

Welcome to an experience led by Yuki where your team will be immersed in the art of Kintsugi, the traditional Japanese method of pottery repair. 

In this hands-on session, you'll learn the ancient Kintsugi technique of repairing broken pottery using traditional Japanese lacquer (Ki-Urushi) mixed with clay powder. The final step is to decorate the repair lines with gold powder (brass powder), creating stunning golden seams that transform ordinary pottery into unique works of art. Yuki will guide your team through each step of the process, sharing the rich history and philosophy behind this craft, which teaches us that what is broken can be made stronger and more beautiful.

Your team will need to bring their own pottery, or Yuki can provide pieces for an additional fee of 10 euro per person. Please keep the pottery guidelines in mind, which are stated under the 'Practical information'. 

Yuki will show you how to carefully prepare and repair the pottery, from loosening the shards to applying the varnish and finally adding the gold highlights. Throughout the workshop, Yuki will also introduce you to different types of lacquer, including Shin Urushi, to give you a deeper understanding of this intricate process.

By the end of the session, each participant will leave with their own beautifully repaired pottery piece and a renewed sense of creativity and teamwork. And if you'd like to continue your Kintsugi journey at home, Yuki offers materials for sale to support you.

This workshop is not just about repairing broken items, but about embracing imperfection and transforming it into something beautiful - an ideal activity for team building and personal growth. This workshop uses a food-safe method, so it's safe to use your creation to eat or drink from.  

If the workshop is held at Yuki's studio, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks like chips and cookies can be provided for an additional fee. You can also opt for an authentic Japanese food experience, provided by Miss Onigiri. For about 15 euro per person, you'll get a light meal consisting of: 2x ONIGIRI (Rice ball) + Miso Soup & MOCHI dessert with Japanese tea. Available vegan & non-vegan. Depending on the time of the workshop, it is also possible to use the space before and/or after the workshop, without an extra fee. This is to be discussed with Yuki.
