  • Join Karolien for a festive and creative experience in her Christmas workshop, where you'll learn how to throw two beautiful bowls on the potter's wheel. This special edition focuses on creating unique gifts for your loved ones, with the opportunity to personalise your bowls by engraving messages. To top it all off, your creations will be beautifully wrapped in Christmas themed gift wrap, ready to be given away.

The workshop begins with a warm welcome from Karolien, who will immerse you in her world of ceramics. You'll start with a short introduction before you begin the first step: kneading the clay to eliminate air bubbles, an essential step in achieving a smooth texture that's easy to work with. Once the clay is well prepared and your hands are warm, you'll sit down at the potter's wheel.

Karolien will guide you every step of the way, from centring the clay to forming a cone to remove any remaining air bubbles. Under his expert guidance, you'll learn how to centre the clay on the wheel. Throughout the workshop, Karolien will be on hand to teach you traditional pottery skills and help you master the technique. The joy of seeing your creations come to life under your hands is a truly magical moment.Ā Once your bowls are finished, they will be glazed and fired, a process that takes around four weeks. So don't forget to allow for this if you want your creations to be ready before Christmas. You'll then be able to collect your carefully wrapped bowls with the personal touches you've added.

This Christmas workshop is the perfect opportunity to create meaningful, handmade gifts while enjoying a fun and creative experience!

    Wecandoo - Meet Karolien

    Meet Karolien

    Ceramist

Growing up, Karolien had a ceramic artist in her family, from whom she learned to create with clay. An artist, Simon Schoonvliet, saw that she was passionate about making portraits in clay and gave her his toolbox. As a teenager, she was active in the Academy of Temse for ceramics. When she finished secondary school, she chose ceramics in high school. After all this, life took over, she got married and had children and forgot about it.

Only ten years later, she accidentally dropt in the Academy of Hamme and started ceramics again. This time she finished and got her degree. Now she is ready to share her skills on ceramics with you!

Karolien is a patient person, she is good at connecting people en feeling people. She loves to work with adults and children because ceramics is for all ages. Children love to do things with their parents to build strong relationships through fun creative moments.

She can tell you about Japanese energy and Qigong and even has a trapeze room for kids.

Her gorgeous garden, which features a weeping willow, is home to a goat and a goose.

Workshops can be held in the sunny garden if you are lucky!
