  • Join the Open Bakery team for a workshop where you'll learn to make four types of bread from scratch.Ā 

    The experience begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to his project and his well-equipped kitchen. You'll be introduced to the different types of bread you'll be making: a farmhouse loaf, a seeded spelt tin loaf, authentic focaccia and brioche burger buns.

    The first step in your bread-making journey is learning the correct way to knead and develop dough. Your tutor will guide you through the techniques needed to transform simple ingredients into delicious doughs. You'll then shape and form these doughs into different loaf shapes, learning how to use technique, heat, moisture and time to achieve perfect results.

    Throughout the workshop you'll be given tips on how to produce artisan quality bread using both traditional stone ovens and domestic ovens at home.

    To keep your energy up, a delicious lunch is included. There will also be a break for tea, coffee and a delicious treat of baked chocolate fondant to give you a boost in the afternoon.

    By the end of the workshop you'll have the skills and confidence to bake four different types of bread from scratch!

    Welcome to the Open Bakery! The Open Bakery a popular family business in Kemptown, Brighton. Since 1997, The Open Bakery has been providing locals with freshly baked goods, all made on site every day.

    Csaba is dedicated to preserving the bakery's traditional recipes and brings his expertise to the bakery's popular classes. Alongside his team of talented chefs and bakers, Csaba teaches participants the art of baking, occasionally joined by a specially selected local guest teacher.

    The Open Bakery runs workshops in a well-equipped, bright kitchen just down the road from the bakery. Here participants can use professional equipment and learn practical baking skills under their teams guidance. Whether you are an experienced baker or a beginner, the Open Bakery's workshops offer a clear, hands-on learning experience.
