3 hour introductory workshop with Pauline

Learn about working with wool

Your own spool of wool

The workshop in detail

  • 3h
  • 15 years min.
  • 2 to 6 participants
  • Up to 10 people for a privatization
  • Dive into the world of wool with Pauline, the artisan weaver!

Everything starts with some explanations about the wool used in the workshop and its origin.

You will start working with unprocessed wool so you will have to carefully remove all the dirt and impurities and then card it, i.e. untangle it and aerate the fibres.

Then you will spin the wool by hand with a wooden spindle. A magnificent reel will take shape little by little!

You will work with 2 different wools, one brown and one white.

This workshop means you can get your hands right in the wool and go back to the basics of textile creation so that you really understand all the basics!

You will leave with your own beautiful spool, ready for your best textile projects!

    Workshop location

The workshop is easily accessible by public transport.

This place is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.

    Wecandoo - Meet Pauline

    Meet Pauline

    Woollens

Having trained at La Cambre in textiles, Pauline is an artisan weaver with a passion for working with wool. From the sheep to the final creation, she's an expert at every stage, from shearing, sorting, and carding, to spinning, weaving, and dyeing, etc.

And she wants to share all of it with you in this workshop! Her final study year project, Blackwool, ended up turning into a lifetime project. And the concept behind it? Promoting the wool from Brussels sheep by running workshops for children and adults!

Combining education, her love of the local area and her passion for textiles, she has since devoted herself full time to this project. Her work showcases the local wool and modernises the craft! She gets her wool from David, a shepherd with a flock of brown sheep in Brussels, as well as from Belgian and French individuals who own sheep and want the wool to be used for something worthwhile.

Once shorn, the wool is sent to spinning mills near Namur and in Bordeaux. She can't wait to welcome you to her Ali Baba's cave of delights! What with all the looms, the cushions, the old spinning wheels and the natural wool, a journey of discovery awaits you!
