Love table wear? Seen some really amazing mugs you would love to recreate? Come and experience Maria's ceramic modeling workshop! In this four-hour session, you will learn the tools and techniques involved in clay modeling, from start to finish.
First, Maria will introduce you to the basic techniques and tools involved in ceramic art. Next, she'll demonstrate how to shape your slab of clay using cylindrical molds.
Participants will then have the opportunity to personalize their objects using geometrical patterns or impressing flowers and leaves into the clay. You can even use a slip (liquid colored clay) to directly color the slab.
After that, it's time to start shaping your objects using the molds. For the mugs, Maria will demonstrate how to create and shape a handle, and then you will reproduce it yourself under her watchful eye.Ā
You will come back three weeks later to collect your products after Maria glazes and fires them twice for you. The workshop will leave you with four amazing personalised objects, which you will cherish forever: two mugs and two coasters. Breakfast at yours has never looked so good!
This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn a new skill and create something practical and beautiful.

Introducing Maria, a talented artist with passions for painting and pottery. Maria initially studied painting at university and only discovered the art of pottery about a decade ago. Since then she has been creating stunning ceramic pieces. Her dedication to the craft led her to transition to pottery full-time three years ago, and she hasn't looked back since!
For over ten years, Maria has been teaching art to children and young people. She finds joy in sharing her knowledge to the next generation of artists.
Her cosy studio is located in the ASC Art House in Croydon, South London. Here, Maria pours her heart into her creations.
Maria values āāthe amazing connections that can be made through art. Her warm and welcoming personality makes her an approachable teacher, always ready to share her expertise with others and give participants an enriching class.
Maria's inspiration comes from nature's colours and shapes, you'll see proof of this in her plant-filled studio where plant cuttings fill the space!
