Your glass creations

The workshop in detail

  • 3h
  • 15 years min.
  • 2 to 8 participants
  • Experience the incredible art of glass blowing with talented artisan Phoebe, in her South East London studio.Ā

As you are warmly welcomed into Gather Studio by Phoebe and her team, you will be introduced to the craft, showing examples of what you could make during your day. Before diving into the hands-on experience, a member of the team will give a brief overview of the health and safety of this particular art form, which has to be practiced with care and respect.Ā

Then it's time for some decision making! Working as a pair, you'll have the opportunity to choose your coloured glass from the studio's wide offering. From muted tones to monochrome to bright and bold, the world is your oyster!

Now it's time to get hands on. First learn the technique of 'collecting' the molten glass from the furnace, then it's time to learn the shaping technique. With the team's guidance, you'll try your hand at blowing your unique glass form, manipulating it into the design you have in mind. Whether you're an experienced artist or a total beginner, the supportive approach will ensure that everyone creates something special that they are proud of.

During the workshop, as a pair, you will work together to create your piece of glass. Once finished, your masterpiece will need to cool slowly overnight to ensure its durability. You can then collect it from the studio 48 hours after the course or, for added convenience, have it couriered for a small fee of Ā£15 per box.

Join Phoebe in her workshop, make amazing memories and discover the fascinating world of glassblowing!

    Wecandoo - Meet Phoebe

    Meet Phoebe

    Glassblower

Meet Phoebe, a London based glassblower with over 10 years experience. Phoebe honed her craft working in both the UK and US before setting up her own studio in South East London.

What sets Phoebe apart is her commitment to sustainability. She has recently invested in innovative technology in her London hot glass studio, including electric furnaces to replace the traditional gas-fired ones. These furnaces not only melt glass efficiently, but also facilitate recycling by tinting it for new products.

Phoebe is passionate about sharing her craft with others and in her workshops, she invites participants to peek behind the curtain and experience a real working glass studio. It's a chance for people not only to learn the technical skills of glassblowing, but also to immerse themselves in a traditional craft that spans generations with a modern twist.

Whether you're an experienced artist or a curious beginner, Phoebe's workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn, create and socialise in a vibrant studio environment.
