In this six-hour workshop, Sofia will delve into the craft of yarn spinning.
The session commences with an introduction to the different types of spinning wheels and how they operate.Â
Participants will then be guided through the fundamental process of fibre preparation, including fibre carding and combing techniques essential for aligning fibres in a way that facilitates the spinning of threads.Â
As the workshop progresses, attendees will cover pull and draw techniques to suit different spinning wheels, empowering attendees with the skills to spin yarn with precision and care. The workshop will further explore the significance of twist direction in the art of yarn-making.Â
Finally, participants will learn about plying yarns, a technique that combines two or more strands of yarn to produce a finished product that is both aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound.

With a rich educational background that includes a BA in Textiles and an MA in Textile Design, Nessa brings over fifteen years of experience to her craft. She aims to use her creative skills to contribute positively to the well-being of others.Â
