  • Join us for an immersive 8-hour workshop led by the talented woodworker, Tim. Dive into the world of ancient hand tools and unleash your creativity as you craft stunning wooden bowls or traditional Scandinavian kuksas from native green hardwood.

    Throughout the day, you will be introduced to the rich history and techniques of bowl carving. Using tools that have been part of our cultural heritage since the stone age, you will experience the artistry of the adze, axe, drawknife, gouge and hook knife. With these ancient tools, you will shape the wood, hollow out the bowl, and refine both its exterior and interior.

    Alternatively, you can try your hand at carving a remarkable kuksa, a distinctive Scandinavian drinking cup. Perfect for savouring your favorite coffee, the kuksa develops a beautiful patina from the coffee grounds, creating a unique and personal touch. Once you experience the comfort and charm of the kuksa, you'll find it hard to part ways with it. Its lightweight and durable nature also make it an excellent companion for outdoor adventures.

    In addition to mastering various carving techniques, this workshop will provide you with a profound understanding of the design and functionality of these timeless objects that have been cherished by humanity for thousands of years.     His journey began in 2015 when he crossed paths with the renowned woodworker, Barn the Spoon. Working alongside Barn, Tim honed his skills in traditional wood techniques, immersing himself in the intricacies of this timeless craft. What started as a fascination with understanding the process of creation evolved into a deep love for working with wood.

    Tim's path took an exciting turn when he discovered The Green Wood Guild. Here, he embarked on a transformative experience, learning the art of woodworking without any prior formal training. Guided by his mentor, Barn, Tim mastered the craft, allowing his creativity to flourish.

    In addition to his artistic pursuits, Tim dedicates his time to teaching. Twice a week, he shares his expertise with children facing social disorder issues at a specialised academy. Teaching holds a special place in Tim's heart as he believes in empowering individuals, regardless of their experience, to take pride in their creations. His genuine joy in connecting with new people and nurturing their talents is what truly fuels his passion for teaching.
