Step into Kira's studio where she shares her expertise in creating stunning pieces of glass art. Trained at the Royal College of Art, Kira's focus is on the pate de verre technique which translates to 'glass paste'. This is a technique using glass powders and frits are molded to create shapes.
Before diving into the workshop, Kira will give an overview of the techniques and safety precautions and you will see examples of her work as well as learning about colour theory and mixing.
During the workshop, Kira will teach you about plaster moulds and demonstrate how to mix powder and fine frit to create a paste. You will choose your colours and shapes before experimenting with applying the paste to moulds. During this workshop you will be able to try circle or hexagon shapes and will have a choice between 3 blue glass colours and 3 green glass colours to choose from.
Once the pieces are finished, they are fired in the kiln and one piece will be framed. Participants can choose to have additional pieces framed for Ā£10 per frame. Participants can collect their finished pieces in two weeks or have them shipped for an additional fee paid directly to Kira.
At Kira's workshop you will gain practical skills and knowledge in glass artistry, guided by Kira's expertise and commitment to sustainability.

Worth every penny. Kira is an outstanding teacher as well as a talented artist. The processes are explained clearly and after firing one receives three pieces which can be framed. Its a perfect introduction to Pate de Verre.
