Your own challah bread

The workshop in detail

  • 3h30
  • 15 years min.
  • 3 to 6 participants
  • Up to 6 people for a privatization
  • Over the course of three and a half hours, Ed will teach you how to make the infamous, and delicious, Challah bread.

The session provides a hands-on opportunity to learn the mixing and shaping of this iconic bread, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and delicious taste.

Participants have the chance to explore the versatility of challah dough, from its classic braided form to variations filled with an array of savoury or sweet ingredients. Options include cheddar with marmite, or pesto and cheddar, or sweet options like sultanas soaked in cinnamon or chocolate chips. Are we making you hungry?

Participants will shape dough that Ed prepared the night before, allowing attendees to experience the entire baking process without the wait. As the shaped dough proves, the class will mix a fresh batch of challah dough. This freshly prepared dough will be taken home by each attendee to be shaped the following day, putting your newly found skill to test!

By the end of the session, each participant will not only have crafted their own challah but will also carry the knowledge and passion required to recreate the experience in their kitchen.

This workshop was excellent - really enjoyable, relaxing and informative. Me and my partner did the workshop together and it was the perfect way to spend our afternoon. Ed made us feel comfortable and encouraged despite our lack of experience, and shared lots of useful knowledge not just about bread, but other culinary tips too. Highly recommended.
