The workshop starts with an introduction to the studio space, where you'll be familiarized with the environment and the day's activities. This is followed by health and safety instructions to ensure you are comfortable and safe working with the tools and materials.

The session then moves on to a demonstration of basic hand building techniques. You'll learn how to shape clay into a plate using simple methods such as pinching and slab building. After the demonstration, you'll start making your own bowl, with the experienced artisans guiding you every step of the way. Once your piece is finished, it will be left to dry and harden.

You will then apply coloured slips to your bowl. The artisans will guide you through the painting process, allowing you to choose your colours and add patterns to suit your personal taste. After painting, the team will demonstrate carving techniques, showing you how to add texture and design to your piece.

You'll then carve your chosen pattern into the bowl to further personalise it. Once finished, the bowl will be fired in the kiln, a process that hardens the clay and finishes your creation. After firing, you'll arrange a time to collect your finished piece!
