Permaculture market gardeners
Once upon a time, there was a 40-acre plot nestled on a hill in Brabant Wallon. And so, the story of Jardin d'Eve began, a family project initiated in 2017 by OphƩlie and her loved ones.
OphƩlie's father, Damien, had long dreamed of being a farmer. So, he left his position as a CEO to train alongside his wife, Sophie, at the Ferme du Bec Hellouin in Normandy. There, they discovered the principles of permaculture, which aim to protect an entire ecosystem.
Back on their land, they meticulously designed the terrain, planting trees and hedges to capture the sunlight and incorporating the seven layers found in wild forests: tall trees, medium-sized trees, small trees, shrubs, climbing plants, ground-covering plants and root plants.
Today, Damien takes joy in cultivating a bountiful array of fruits and vegetables, free from pollution and pesticides, and grown with utmost respect.
Sophie, a portrait artist, delves into the art of floral composition, a delicate skill that instantly captivates her.
OphƩlie, on the other hand, has been passionate about plants since her early childhood. As a professional geographer, she returned to her roots by studying permaculture and herbal tea-making at Herbes de Bruxelles. She loves immersing herself in numerous books on wild or medicinal plants, including old Spanish manuals unearthed in Bolivia.
Her sister, Victoria, takes charge of managing the activities with her infectious good humour and a keen sense of change.
Together, they aspire to share their values and pass on their knowledge to promote more mindful consumption. Their forest garden embodies not only a magnificent haven of peace but also a place of serenity and connection to the essential: the real, the good, the beautiful and the living.
