2 hours of initiation with Marthe-Esther

Knowledge in African cuisine

The preparation of a tasty iconic African dish

The workshop in detail

  • 2h
  • 15 years min.
  • 3 to 6 participants
  • Up to 6 people for a privatization
  • Immerse yourself in the culinary universe of Marthe-Esther and let yourself be transported by the vibrant flavours of Africa!

You will learn to cook an emblematic African dish with fresh and authentic ingredients. You will discover traditional cooking techniques to ensure the success of your dish.

Depending on the season, you can prepare dishes such as chicken in moambe sauce, accompanied by lentil/tofu balls, or yassa chicken or fish, a Senegalese dish marinated in a sauce made of onions, lemon, and mustard.

Vegans can indulge in jollof rice/Thieboudienne, a national dish of Senegal made with rice, fish, and vegetables, or MafƩ (meat or vegetable stew with a peanut butter sauce) served with rice.

The workshop will begin with an introduction to African cuisine and a presentation of the ingredients used. Then, you will discover the chosen recipe according to the season, and you will start preparing the ingredients. Once they are peeled, cut, and sliced... it will be time to cook the dish!

Finally, you will have the chance to taste your dish and exchange on the flavours and cooking techniques with the chef in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

Don't miss the opportunity to uncover the secrets of African cuisine and prepare one of its emblematic dishes during this workshop!

    Meet Marthe

    Chef

Marthe-Esther began her career in psychology, but her love for African cuisine took her down a completely different path: the world of gastronomy!

Growing up, Marthe-Esther was captivated by the enticing aromas of her mother's African cooking, which inspired her to launch Kulabox in 2021 (Kula means "to eat" in Swahili). Her mission is to honour the richness of African gastronomy by empowering people to recreate her mother's recipes at home.

But that's not all! As a passionate cook, Marthe-Esther also creates and sells iconic sauces to complement traditional dishes or reinvent African cuisine.

In addition to her culinary creations, Marthe-Esther organises workshops to share her passion and introduce people to the delights of African cuisine.

With her cheerful, passionate, and educational approach, Marthe-Esther is determined to demystify this lesser-known cuisine and create moments of sharing and conviviality around new taste experiences.

The workshop with Esther was very nice! We cooked ā€œmafĆ© de pouletā€ together and Esther made sure to answer all our questions. Mammouth is also a lovely location for a workshop. I would recommend it!
