Join Gerrarda or one of the upholsterers of De Oude Leeuw for a hands-on experience, where the art of upholstery comes alive under their expert guidance.
As you settle in to the workshop, you will start to unravel the rich history of the craft and get an introduction to the quintessential tools of the trade.
Feel the satisfaction of foam cutting, ensuring your stool offers the utmost comfort. Dive into a world of textiles as you choose the perfect fabric - either from Gerrarda's curated collection or bring your own piece (make sure it's at least 50 x 50 cm).
The magic truly begins when you mould and shape your fabric onto the stool. Master the nuances of stretching, lifting, and stapling, all while understanding the unique contours of your piece. To top it all off, you'll embellish your creation with a decorative finish.
By the workshop's end, you'll not only have a wealth of new knowledge but also a beautifully upholstered stool, a testament to your creativity and De Oude Leeuw's teachings.

Upholsterer
A few years ago, Gerrarda decided to switch careers and start working with her hands. With knowledge from working in garments and her technical insight, she decided to take over furniture upholsterer De Oude Leeuw.
With over 40 years of legacy, De Oude Leeuw is a sanctuary for those seeking to breathe new life into both vintage and contemporary furniture pieces. Gerrarda and her team, fuelled by passion and a wealth of experience, offer services ranging from upholstery to restoration and upcycling.
The workshop, spread across a bustling basement and a dedicated upper floor, is a testament to the craft. Sewing machines stand poised for intricate tasks, surrounded by foam rubber stacks and an array of tools like hammers, pliers, and razor-sharp scissors. But it's not just about work here. The inviting ambiance of De Oude Leeuw sees customers often lingering, selecting fabrics and unwinding with a comforting cup of coffee, enchanted by the warmth and craftsmanship around them.
