With a strong focus on sustainability, Rachel is passionate about teaching people where their food comes from and the importance of responsible farming.
At Trenchmore, Rachel and the team are dedicated to slowly restoring the clay soil on their farm, which in turn improves the quality of their crops. This commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of their farming practices. The cattle at Trenchmore are fed a carefully balanced diet that includes grass and herbal ley silage, as well as by-products of human food production. These include brewers' grains from local craft breweries, linseed cake from oil pressing, molasses, straw from their wheat harvest and apple pomace from their cider production each autumn.
