Welcome to the exciting world of ceramic modelling! In this 2.5 hour workshop, you'll learn the techniques and tools of this beautiful art form.
Under the guidance of our talented artist, Maria, you'll start by receiving an introduction to clay/ceramic modelling, the techniques involved, and the tools required.
Next, you'll witness a demonstration of how to manipulate and shape your slab of clay using molds. Participants will then have the opportunity to personalise their pieces using geometrical patterns or by impressing flowers and leaves. You can also learn how to use slip (liquid coloured clay) to directly colour your slab.
Next, it's time to start shaping your objects using the molds. You can choose to create a pair of small plates, a pair of small bowls, or one large bowl. Creating something super useful that you will be able to use every day!
You'll be able to collect your product three weeks later after Maria has glazed and fired them twice for you, then you can proudly display at home, it'll be the showstopper of your next dinner party!

Introducing Maria, a talented artist with passions for painting and pottery. Maria initially studied painting at university and only discovered the art of pottery about a decade ago. Since then she has been creating stunning ceramic pieces. Her dedication to the craft led her to transition to pottery full-time three years ago, and she hasn't looked back since!
For over ten years, Maria has been teaching art to children and young people. She finds joy in sharing her knowledge to the next generation of artists.
Her cosy studio is located in the ASC Art House in Croydon, South London. Here, Maria pours her heart into her creations.
Maria values the amazing connections that can be made through art. Her warm and welcoming personality makes her an approachable teacher, always ready to share her expertise with others and give participants an enriching class.
Maria's inspiration comes from nature's colours and shapes, you'll see proof of this in her plant-filled studio where plant cuttings fill the space!
Experience the beauty of Maria's art, get to know her warm personality and create your own ceramic piece in her cosy London studio space.
