Join Clunie for an immersive woodcarving workshop.
You'll start with an introduction to Clunie and her workshop, learning about her background and the history of classical woodcarving before a health and safety induction.
Clunie will demonstrate the essential tools and techniques of woodcarving and you'll get hands-on practice with basic skills. You'll learn about wood properties, including grain direction, which is important for effective carving and be supplied with timber suitable for your project and a document detailing what was learned during the course, as well as details of tools and timber suppliers.
The workshop concludes with a practical project in which you'll create a chip carving pattern.
Experience the art of woodcarving with Clunie and leave with your own carved creation. Note: No prior carving experience is necessary. Complete beginners will be guided through the basic techniques, while more advanced students will be given guidance on how to refine their skills further. But if they are too advanced, it is advised to book a one-on-one master class. They students looking for more complex projects should contact the artisan ahead of booking to discuss possibilities within the class time.
Participants under age 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult who will be responsible for their wellbeing.
